Villanelle is a complicated form of narrative poem.
This form will offer you a challenge if you are up for it. It has five tercets (five chunks of three lines). Sounds easy enough?
Here is the hard part. Lines 1 and 3 of the opening stanza (paragraph) are repeated alternately as the 3rd line of the rest of the tercets (paragraphs made of three lines). At the end of the poem lines 1 and 3 are the last two lines of the poem. This form of poetry does not have a rhyme pattern. you can tell your story without the end of lines matching sound but you must remember to repeat lines 1 and 3 when required.
