How do authors come up with ideas for their stories?
The number one resource any author can use is their own life. Many authors base stories on their own experiences. But, what can an author use if they decide that World War II or the Crusades would make a good story. Not every author can use life experiences if what subject of their story is an entirely different era than the one they live in. What is Historical Fiction?Historical fiction is a made up (FICTIONAL) story that take place during a real historical time period (SETTING) where a fake person (CHARACTER) interacts with real historical people and is affected by real historical events.
What is this unit?In this unit students are going to read several chapters from multiple historical fictions. Each text has a different historical focus. Students are analyzing different textual structures and skills within each text to develop an understanding of historical fictions. Students will be focused on, conflict, perspective, and plot.
